This Western Athletic Conference match-up features one team on the top and the other on the way down. Fresno State was supposed to be a much improved team this year and has shown brief glimpses of this. However, of late they are on a 3 game slide including a 26 point loss to Utah State on Thursday. One reason for this blow out is the loss of one of their key starters, F Paul George. Now the Freshman Greg Smith will have to step in. Greg Smith, a player recruited by many of the nation's top schools, has performed very well coming off the bench. This, however, will be a new role. Additionally, PG Steven Shepp has returned to the line-up after being kept out of the games on their last road trip because of academic issues. These Bulldogs will be facing the Nevada team that has been playing very well since conference play has started. They are led by their 6.9 Forward Luke Babbit. Babbit has scored a Double Double in 6 of the last 8 games and missed one of them buy only one rebound. He is one of the best free throwers in the country averaging over 90%. He is joined by very able guards in Johnson and Fields. The team has been shooting very well passing 50% in 5 of their last games and shooting in the upper 40s in the others. Though Fresno State has a minor height advantage the absence of George almost negates this. Nevada needs to keep pace with flying Utah State so will come out ready to steal the road victory. Capper has this game at Nevada -4 and will play the -4 for one unit (out of 3)
